I'm currently a freshman at my high school and I've been hearing a lot about freshman year not really counting on college admisssions.

However, I'm taking AP Biology and doing very well in that class, so will colleges acknowledge that or disregard it just because it was done in my freshman year?

I think you may be referring to how UC’s calculate GPA. Your AP class in the freshman year won’t figure in the UC GPA. I’m sure you’ll take many more AP classes in the next two years. UC’s include only 4 year long AP/IB/CL classes in the GPA calculation anyway.

Your AP class in freshman year will indeed figure in the comprehensive review in the “strength of curriculum” category. Just make sure that you get a decent grade in it. Even Honors and Language classes in Junior High are included in this picture. For example, I get a-g credit for Algebra 1 and Spanish in Junior High.
