Freshman year - questions

So I've heard that Stanford doesn't look at grades from freshman year.

Does this mean that they won't look at awards/achievements from freshman year as well?

If they say grades they probably mean grades. Otherwise they would simply omit the word grades and say they don’t look at freshman year.

“So I’ve heard that Stanford doesn’t look at grades from freshman year.”

Correct.

“Does this mean that they won’t look at awards/achievements from freshman year as well?”

No. For example: Stanford classmate was the Ballroom Dancing National Champion during his freshman year of high school; it still counted for him.

They recalculate your GPA based on their own formula.

Freshman year is thrown out. Soph/jr/sr year GPA is recalculated so that every A+ or A- is an “A” and every B+ or B- is a “B”…etc.

Your awards are fine, don’t worry.

Thanks! Do you know if they consider grades by each semester or by final year grades? Sorry for so many questions.
