Hello, when I was in the 8th grade, I took some high school classes to get ahead, one being spanish 1. I did great in the class! i got an A in the class which went on my transcript. I was my teachers best student. She even gave me an award for excellence in spanish. However, my teacher was faulty, She did not teach us everything we were supposed to learn. She taught us mainly vocab but to an extent. she hardly even taught us grammer (stem changing verbs, etc. )
At the end of the course, we had to take a state test. Many of the best students in the class either failed or passed with a very low grade (I passed with a low score). This usually would allow me to go to spanish 2. However, I went to a top high school in my state. The expectations are very high for spanish 2 (theres more than tests, like oral tests, declamations, etc. and you really got to know your spanish 1 well to succeed in year 2), so rather than looking at the state exam, they gave their own placement test. I was not fully prepared for this test and I didnt do so great. Many others at the school failed as well even though they took spanish 1. only 3-4 freshman passed. So I had to retake spanish 1 but this time on an honors level. The point is will colleges look at this in a bad way. On my transcript I got A’s both times I took the class, however I did have to retake the class. But it wasn’t my fault!
when I said, “she hardly even taught us grammer (stem changing verbs, etc. )”, i meant that she didnt even teach us things like stem changing verbs, etc.
also in my school, spanish and greek were mandatory for freshman year, so i couldnt swap spanish out for another language
It won’t matter, don’t worry. Stay in Honors Spanish, take 4 years of it (or use Dual Enrollment to accelerate to AP), and you’ll be fine.
okay, thank you sooo much. i was extremely worried about this. Ur right, i shouldnt worry. thanks
