At least the stigma of being a cute wittle freshman has mostly faded....

I do think the hardest part of being a freshman, at least the kind that lurk around CC, is that I'm trying to balance having a typical high school experience with prepping myself for college. It's not that I do activities for college (how stupid), but that I know I have only four years in this phase of my life in which to accrue some sort of understanding of my interests, some commitment or passion. And I'm not just talking about ECs, guys, but just that there's a life to live, and I want stories to tell my kids and grandkids, the crazy stories about my suburban public school days. But I want to be able to tell them those stories in a room full of books, maybe some I've even written myself, and be a crazy senile nerd.

We think too much, don't we? Being a freshman is pretty doggone fun, and I can dream of having a HUUUGE library with one of those wheely ladders AND pursue certain male specimens.... :)

'11 representtt.
But I agree with some of the upperclass men. Even I can tell if someone's a freshman by the way the act or talk or write or whatever. I mean you can probably tell by the way III write.
Anyways. That was just after reading the first 4 posts =]

Frosh - go outside, go hang out with your friends or something. CCers have a tendancy to care a little too much about school. As freshmen especially, stop worrying about college. Your four years will fly by and then, guess what? The day you set foot on campus, nothing you did in high school matters. Enjoy your time in high school while you can (especially later on when you can drive). I know you all have great plans for the future, but the future isn't here today. Try to live in the present, at least a little bit, because it's time that you're never going to get back. Each year just goes faster and faster, so please, make the most of what you've got.

And '007 was the greatest HS class ever. End of story.

I'll be a freshman next year. I can't wait. '12 will be the best! But...what would you suggest to think about to an incoming freshman? Any pointers or tips?

^ As a current freshman, my best advice would be to find some time for fun. From what I hear it is all uphill from here and will get harder each year. I have so many friends who are just taking all academic classes and they are not enjoying school at all. For me, I have 5 academic classes and then Drama and Student Council. It is just so great to have those two classes that I love and look forward to everyday. I am still really focused on my academics, but 'all work and no play made Jack a dull boy'. I think that statement is very true. I try my best to find the balance between work and play, and let me say that having those fun classes makes my day more enjoyable and it goes by faster.

Thanks Chadman! I plan on taking all pre-APs (English I, Geometry, Biology, possible an AP credit for human geography) as well as (at the moment) Spanish II pre-AP, soccer, and theatre arts. I'll keep in mind that a balance is good, because I really want to have a great high school experience.

Yeah, you're schedule is very similar to mine, and I think that soccer and theatre arts should give you a nice balance if they are things that you enjoy. If you have any questions at all feel free to PM me or something. I'd be glad to help.

Woo class of 2011 is the best. I don't think we could pull anything like 08 did, but we are definetly better then class of 2010. (I would never say that in my dominant 10 grade world history class.)

2010 is def better than 2011! but freshman try to find a balance during high school. it really important to have a balance between school and fun. good luck during high school.
