Freshman's Chances

Hello, I am currently a freshman, and I would like to know if I keep up with where I'm at right now, if I'll make it into the colleges of my dreams. Basically, I am a white male from southern Florida attending a not-so-well-known Christian Academy. Anyway, here are my current stats:

*GPA-(1st semester)4.2 (I think that's the W GPA)
*GPA-(2nd semester) Probably around 4.2-4.5 (again, I think that's the W)

*Captain and #1 on a Varsity Tennis Team (also named MVP)

*Winner of Acheivement Academy's annual award (only 10% of all H.S. get it)

*I have interned at a Stock Brokerage (SmithBarney), and have been given the choice to come back for my remaining 3 years of H.S.-I probably will...(I would like to major in Business/Finance)

*I am taking all the honors classes my school offers (4/4)

*Member of Mu Alpha Theta (Math team)

*Member of NJHS (National Junior Honor Society)

FUTURE DEFINETES:
*Web design course this summer
*swim Team this summer
*Varsity Cross Country
*President of Sophmore Class (I know for sure)
*Intern at SmithBarney
*Member of NHS
*Member of JSA (Junior State of America)
*Member of Mu Alpha Theta
*All honors classes will be taken (or whatever the hardest classes are)
*I will ask for an interview and apply ED for each school I apply to.

Now Assuming I keep up my GPA (4.2-4.5) and I get decent scores on my SAT (1500-2100) and ACT (25-33), what are my chances at these schools?

Cornell U.
Rutgers
NYU Stern
Harvard

Thanks in advance :D

Way too early to tell, but keep your GPA up. Ideally, you will want over a 2200 to be competitive at schools like Cornell and Harvard (2300 just to be safe at Harvard).

Again, it's too early to tell, keep up the good work.

I think the ACT score you need to aim for is 28-33. 25 is on the low side. :)

Also, you may only apply to one school ED. If you are accepted, you MUST attend that school.

1)

"*I will ask for an interview and apply ED for each school I apply to."

You can only apply ED to ONE school.

2) You have no idea where you want to go

3) You have no idea what you want to major in

1500-2100 and 25-33 are HUGE differences... lol... youve got a while to wait until stress comes in... lol

did anyone else stop reading once they saw the word "freshman" ?

no, i thought it he was brave for posting it (im a freshman too), but Jtivy, if you dont screw up ur gpa like i did, u still have a chance for an ivy

Wow, sorry to be so obtrusive I didn't think you guys would taunt me for being a freshman...anyway, I do know what I want to major in-Business/finance. Maybe you should read the entire thing through before you start jumping to conclusions. Maybe not every freshman is as simple minded as you think. Anyway, I will keep it up and come back here when I have more credibility-it seems freshman don't have any at these boards

No, you don't know what you want to do. You might think you want do business, but what basis do you have for that? "Oh, it sounds cool" isn't quite strong enough.

Come back in 2 years.

What courses do you take? Saying "I will sign up fur all da hardest courses and get 4.0" isn't enough, hard courses are, surprisingly, HARD courses and you cannot predict your GPA there.
But good luck, I'm freshman too :)

wats ur unweighted gradee... i thinks that more important or thats wat my dad says... (hes an alumi for penn)??? also for business, u want as much experience as possible...

First, it is true that you don't know what you will want to do four to seven years from now. You may well continue to enjoy business. You may not. Whatever; it's immaterial. If you enjoy working in finance right now, keep working in finance.

Your scores are good, but if you hit the SAT and ACT scores you plan on hitting, you will probably be rejected from Harvard and Cornell, and you will be a good but not excellent candidate at NYU and Rutgers. Standardized tests are good equalizers, and you'll need to do well in them to have good odds at the Ivies.

1500...as in 1500/2400....should not be your lower range, especially if you really even THINK you might want to go to those places.
