Freshmen Abroad program

I was recently accepted to UMD’s Spring semester & was offered 2 options for the fall of my freshman year, both under the school;
freshman connection (which I don’t seem to like because I’m off-campus and not so connected to the school in my opinion)
destination abroad (rome or london)

I’m more interested in the Rome trip because I’ve always wanted to live in Italy. I just have no info on the program- the website in my opinion sucks and gives me no info. Is it safe? Reliable? Am I freshman or transfer student in the spring when I attend? Will the courses in Rome help me graduate in 4 years?

Can anyone help me on info on the Rome trip, or even both options?

Freshman Connection does offer on campus housing for the Fall semester. If you take the Rome trip, you will be a freshman when you start in the Spring. UMD has a Freshman Connection website and you can search this forum for Freshman Connection postings.
