I'm a sophomore and I'm taking AP Bio and AP Psych this year... mostly just because my mom keeps pressuring me to because she's fully convinced that everywhere else in the US there are kids that are in 9th grade taking AP classes too....

So is it true that a lot of underclassmen take AP? Reply if you're one or know one

My D school--restricts AP courses only to Jr.& Sr....There is so much more work involved with AP courses, as they are deemed to be college level material....you may be well served by taking a course in the summer at your local cc or a gifted student program at a reconized university-ie John Hopkins...and then set up the AP courses for Jr/Sr years..go with your gut...you know yourself best!

I am not one, because in my school, only juniors and seniors can take APs. I do know a lot of people, that do take APs freshmen and sophmore year.

At my son's high school (private college prep school), there are no specific restrictions on who can or cannot take AP classes, but just given the normal sequence of classes, it would extremely unusual for any freshman to take an AP class. Sophomores with high GPAs can opt for AP European History as an alternative to the World History class that is required that year, and students in the school's advanced science program sometimes take AP Environmental Science as a sophomore. The vast majority of AP classes are taken by juniors and seniors.

It is rare for underclassmen to take AP classes. Out of everyone that I known only AP World History has been an AP for a freshman. AP Euro and AP Calc BC are for the Sophomores.

my school typically only offers an ap us history course (and it's part of a two-year sequence), but if you're advanced enough in say... the math track, you can take more. :)

My school doesn't have any regulations on APs. Basically if you really want to take one you just ask your counselor and they'll just put it on your schedule without asking about it. Although some classes DO have prereqs. I think I'm one of maybe four sophomores taking AP classes in my grade?

In my class there was one girl who took AP Biology freshman year and another who took AP Chemistry freshman year. The one who took AP Chem is taking 4 AP's this year (10th grade). I'm taking AP US History and AP US Govt. this year and I'm a sophomore.

Just remember if you take the AP course you should try to take the SAT II subject test in May or June so you have them done for college applications.

I'm a freshman (yes, it's kinda lame that I'm on CC), and I'm taking Human Geography, which in my school is year-long; next year, I'll be taking World History and European History. I'm at a competitive public school, and those are the only three AP classes available to underclassmen (Geography was added this year, and European will actually be added next year).

I'm a sophomore now, and i'm taking 3 AP's: AP world history, calculus, and chemistry. I was going to take AP Psychology also, but eh......
I'm planning on going to University of Washington this year after sophomore

I'm asian.....come on..... both my parents are engineers

So you're in these AP classes as an underclassman... but what'd you get as your test score? As in, do underclassmen seem to get lower scores b/c they take AP classes early on, or do they do just as well?
