Freshmen Dorm Parties

hey guys, so i've heard that the freshmen dorms have a better social scene and are "wild," but is this referring mostly for during weekends? like if i'm a person who prefers to study in a quiet place during school days, would the noise level make the freshmen dorms not ideal for me?

I lived in Houston (which was supposedly one of the “loudest” dorms) last year and didn’t have any trouble studying on week nights. Partying during the week is mainly limited to Thursday nights, anyways, and even then people who party generally just go to frats. It can get a little loud at times, but on the rare occasions that I had to request them to be quieter my hallmates complied politely.

I lived in Haskell, but I spent nearly all of my studying time at the library. My suite might just have been one of the more social/louder suites, but I don’t think I could have ever studied in there.

Lived in Tilton two years ago when it was party central. Fun, but not the ideal place for studying.

Why is partying done on Thurs nights and not Fri nights?

If you’re hardcore you party Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and if you’re even more hardcore you throw down earlier in the week too.
(I’m not hardcore)

I’ve heard it’s Thursday because most people don’t have classes on friday so they can get a hangover on friday, party on saturday, hangover on sunday, and then go to class on monday.

It definitely depends on the year - I was in Tilton last year and LOVED it. I never had trouble studying because of noise. My floor was actually pretty quiet, even on weekends. It got hard to study when friends came in and distracted me… but hey that was my fault for letting them in :)

*Thirsty Thursdays (I presume this could also be applied to Tuesdays, hah)

I am a senior at Tufts this year and lived in Houston Hall my freshman year. I had a great experience, and never felt that it was too “crazy” to focus on my studies. I recommend living in a freshman hall personally.
