It is my freshmen year and my first quarter and i am on subject to academic disqualification, i didn’t get the hang of the quarter system right away and use to the semester system so everything was going at a fast rate and i haven’t discovered the study habitat right for me an di am very scared to be kicked out for my first bad rough quarter. i just need a second chance. i will don anything to pick up my GPA, I will go to office hours, i will go to tutoring i just wanna know what is the probability of me getting disqualified from the school. Please i am from sixth college at UCSD, and i just want some advice.
I don’t know much about UCSD, but some schools have “forgiveness units” meaning you can apply "forgiveness " and re-take the course, the new grade will replace the first grade and recalculate the GPA. I just researched that UCSD has the website backontrack.ucsd.edu and advise you to contact Virtual Advising Center(VAC) if you have any questions. I doubt that you will get kicked out due to poor performance for just the 1st quarter, so don’t panic, talk to advising center and see what you can do. I think you will be placed on the academic probation first, then you have next two terms to achieve above 2.0. Just try your best to pull at least one of the grade up! Best luck to you!
Here is what I found from the website,
Academic Probation
The student’s term GPA is at least 1.5 but less than 2.0 or the cumulative GPA is less than 2.0 and the student is not Subject to Disqualification.
Subject to Disqualification
The student’s term GPA is less than 1.5 or the student completed two successive terms on Academic Probation and the cumulative GPA is below 2.0.
B)An undergraduate student is subject to academic probation if at the end of any term his or her GPA for that term or the cumulative GPA is less than 2.0. An undergraduate student is subject to academic disqualification from further registration if at the end of any term his or her GPA for that term is less than 1.5 or if he or she has completed two successive terms on academic probation without achieving a cumulative GPA of 2.0. Continued registration of an undergraduate who is subject to disqualification is at the discretion of the faculty of the student’s college, or its authorized agent. Am 4/1/75
