Freshmen firsts

My son has discovered that college physics is challenging! Ha. So today he told me about how he went to his prof's office hours earlier in the week. And SURPRISE! she was really nice, and he learned a ton, and he did well of the exam, and she even KNOWS him now!

Yes. Success.

Congratulations on your son doing well, and learning to seek help and in using the office hours that are available!

Good for him!

I wish more freshmen would learn that lesson this early in the year.

Weenie - gets the prize for Giving Hope to Mothers of Sons for the week:).

Yes, I'll second that.^^^

It is so hard, especially for our young men, to approach teachers -female teachers in particular - and ask for help. Your S learned a valuable lesson Weenie. Good job, mom!

I'll third it. There is hope.....

Congrats to weenie's son on getting over a big hurdle. I remember the first time I had to ask a prof for help. I felt like such a loser. It turned out great, however. Hopefully he'll get to know all of his profs.

Speaking of "firsts", DD's phone fell apart (OK, maybe because it was dropped too many times) and she had to handle everything about getting a new one at the cell phone store (including paying for it). Only one slip-up--they forgot to switch sim cards, so she had to back to the store to get them to do that. I'll see the new phone this weekend at Parents' Weekend.

Now if I could her to visit one or two of her profs...

My freshman D, who plays 4 instruments and flat out would not sing, has joined an a capella group!
Let's hear it for new horizons!
