I would like to know, form a former or current UMich student, which housing is the best for freshmen. I have heard from my brother (a sophomore) that East quad is brand new, in one of the best locations and with the best cafeteria. I do not know if it is exclusively freshmen though. On the flip side there is Markley. My brother stayed there for his freshmen year and said he loved it. He said it had the worst dorm, but had the best social atmosphere since it was all freshmen and the location as well. He recommended I aim for that since it will be the best for social life (I think I agree with him). With all that considered I just want some other perspectives. Thanks!

If you are not part of the residential programs, you are most likely either at Markley or in North Campus.

No, East Quad is not exclusively freshmen–it contains the Residential College, and the RC kids have to live there for at least the first two years.
