Freshmen Orientation

Is attending Freshmen Orientation MANDATORY? Like, i mean, even if i pay the 130 dollar Fee, do i still have to attend? What will happen if i do not attend orientation? Will i get my admission rescinded?

Because really..it is a B**** to me now. I registered late, on the day before the late registration fee applied. I registered when ALL The sessions, INCLUDING session 5, were FULL. FULL.

Now i got a email from the Muir college saying that Session 5 is actually open!

And get this..they said that "some people registered for Session 0 mistakenly..Session 0 is NOT a orientation Sessiom"

Lol Wth..it auto assigned me to Session 0 BECAUSE all the Sessions were full! Ah..so screwed up..

So, overall, do i have to attend Orientation? Will my Admission be Rescinded? This orientation thing is quite a bit of trouble for me ^_^

Personally, I found the orientation to be a waste of time and money. Sure there are icebreakers, but you'll get plenty of that upon dorm move-in and beginning of the year.

Try asking the college what extenuating circumstances are needed to waive out of orientation. ;)

but i think its where they give u a chance to enroll in classes...i think..i could be wrong...hahaha

You don't enroll in classes during Orientation. But they do help you decide which classes to enroll in.

Yeah, unfortunately it is mandatory. I gotta leave my house at like 6am in order to make it there in time for the orientation. What a bummer, driving in the morning alone ='(

Orientation is NOT mandatory. They may state it is but it makes no difference if you decide not to go. It is not related to your admissions status whatsoever. You don't register for classes but rather get to explore the school/meet new people. Like chessdude2 said, there are plenty more opportunities once you arrive to school when it starts anyway.

Personally, I also thought it was a waste of time and money, but I went to the September one so that I could also get to move in at around the same time.

You really should consider going! I guess the september one is kind of late to make a difference but I had a lot of fun at orientation, they plan good activities and it's very informative. It's a good way to meet people. Plus, I had a million questions (the kind that websites don't tell you) and I got them all answered.
