Freshmen Schedule

Okay, so i am an incoming freshmen at Cal and I'm having trouble deciding what courses to take. I am majoring in Integrative Biology and I'm also Pre-med. I've heard that Chemistry 1A and Math 1A tend to be considerably difficult as a Freshmen. I've always had trouble with Math, but have managed to do well, and was taught Calculus last year by a miserably bad teacher so I've retained next to nothing. I took Chemistry as a Junior in pretty much the same situation so i know I'm not comparable to the kids that took AP Chem. I was encouraged by CalSO leaders to sign up for Math 32 and Chem P so I can be ready to take the 1A courses next semester. I feel as if I'm falling behind those students that are taking the courses as a Freshmen. In the opinion of current students should I stick with the intro courses to get ready for next semester or am I being to apprehensive and just dive into the main courses instead?

Try this placement exam to see if you are ready to take Math 1A or 10A.

You can also look at old final exams for various math courses (e.g. look at the ones for Math 32 to see if you know all of the material in that course).

Note that Math 10A-10B is likely to be more relevant to biology majors, so if you are not considering other majors that require calculus but do not accept 10A-10B, you may want to take that.
