Freshmen Schedules?

Let’s see…
Algebra II
Physical Science
Spanish II
English
Newspaper
World Cultures and Geography
P.E.

We don’t have honors classes “because they’re all challenging academically” and no APs until junior year.

^ Do you go to a public school?

Yes, I go to public school.

a magnant?

a charter?

That’s insane that they’d be “academically challenging” enough otherwise. Then again there are some pretty stupid people at my school.

Oh, well how I see it is that I go to a public school in a private town. It’s basically a neighborhood of a larger city that became it’s own town and has really high educational taxes (like the highest in the country or something like that). So you pay for a good education through taxes rather than a direct tuition. It’s not the stereotypical huge public school. I think we have maybe 750 students.

I don’t understand how no APs are offered before junior year… that’s really lame

My current freshmen schedule is:

Participating in Democracy/Modern History of Hawaii (Hawaii State Req.)
Japanese I
English 9
Geometry GT
AJROTC I
Algebra I GT
Physical Science
A+ Certification

No AP classes are offered until 11th grade, unless you take a course through the eSchool. There aren’t any GT/Honors classes either, besides math and two GT classes for sophomores (Bio and World History). English is particularly rigid; unless you take AP English your junior/senior year, or take Running Start senior year, you get stuck in regular classes no matter what.

I was in a San Diego public school for this…I took:
Honors English
Spanish 1
Honors Geometry
Concert Band
Biology
Marching Band / Freshman PE

lol my schedule looks so weak compared to everyone elses.

My school doesn’t offer any APs for freshmen. Only one (APWH) for sophomores, but as a junior and senior you could theoretically have all eight AP/IBs if you wanted. This was my freshman schedule:

H English
H Alg II
H Bio
H Civics & Econ
Spanish II
Manufacturing
Marching/Concert/Jazz Band

Wow that looks really weak compared to my junior/senior schedule haha.

I took:
PIB World History
PIB Biology 1
PIB French 2
Journalism II
Research 1/2 (physics H)
PIB English 1
Pre calc H

Am I the only one who is a little surprised to hear that all of you have AP as an option freshman year? I’m not a freshman - junior right now - but my school only offered one AP to sophomores, and then 4 or 5 to juniors and basically whatever you want senior year (7 max, since sciences need double labs twice a week). None of the schools near me do either, but I digress.

I took basically the highest offered each year, which were:
Honors English
Honors Physics
Honors Global I
Advanced Honors Algebra II
Journalism I and II
Gym/Health (requirement)

We have no honors or AP classes for freshman at my current school. Plus, I got screwed over as a transfer…

First School (attended for 1 day)
Honors English Survey 1
Some religious course… don’t remember name
Honors Geometry
Honors Freshman Biology
American History
Spanish I
PE/Health

Transfer (Current School)
Earth Science
English 9
US History
Algebra/Geometry/Statistics II
Spanish I
PE/Health

why are you taking algebra at the second school but not the first

Mine is:

H Biology
H Trig
H Sophomore French
H US History
H English I
H Italian I
Photography I (or Web Design I, can’t choose!)

Mine was:
PE 9
Biology CP (no honors)
Spanish CP (no honors)
Honors Geometry
Honors English
Pre-AP World History (“Honors Geography”, but we really did the first 14 chapters of AP World)

PRUNE: because the second school didn’t have geometry. They have an integrated system and no honors classes. The first school went Alg I, Geo, Alg II. The second school goes Alg/Geo/Stat I, II, and III.

Mine wasn’t really that rigorous. It was the highest offered though and you had to go through this huge application process.

Honors Geography for Life
Honors English 9
Honors Biology
Geometry
Spanish 2
PE 9
Advanced theatre
Released time

Geometry L1
English I L1
French I L1
Latin I L1
World History L1
Biology L1
PE 9

L1 was the highest you could take in 9th grade, unless you took LH Algebra II, which unfortunately I did not!
