Freshmen Scheduling questions

anon5524485: LOL I wish I had heard you bit of advice about Chem 3B/3BL before I went through with my last semester…I took 3 lab classes lab semester including Chem 3B/3BL and worked 9-12 hours a week in a lab…I felt like I was always in lab

So which of these would you recommend for my final class:
-Sociology 1 or 5
-Econ 1 or 3
-Anthro 3ac
-Poli Sci 2 or 4
-Public Health 14

Current courses:
-German R5A
-Math 16A
-Chem 1A

Adding one of those classes would give me 15 units for my first semester. Is that too much or should I go with something different to fulfill a breadth like Leftist suggested? I am only interested in taking of those classes in order to complete my Public Health reqs faster. But if a breadth would be better then please suggest a course that I can take. I still need to fulfill these breadths: Arts & Lit, International Studies, and Philosophy & Values. Thanks once again :)

You probably don’t need to take 15 units your first semester. I’d consider taking something low intensity, even some 2 unit course p/np or something. It depends on how good you are at math and chemistry… I’m in the “take it easy first semester” camp.

The problem with “taking it easy” is that it leaves you with way too much free time. When you have way too much free time, you end up wasting more than just your free time and starting wasting your study time. Freshman year I saw a couple of roommates and a handful of floormates go down that path.

It can be dangerous.

Hi Leftist, I noticed that you took French 3 from a post on another thread. Was the class difficult for you? How much French did you take in high school before taking that class? The professor who is teaching French 3 for fall is Pries. Do you know if she is easy or not? I took four years of French in high school and two years in middle school. However, I took the AP exam this year and I think I got a 2 or 3, lol. Do you think I can handle French 3 and get an A? If I add it, that means I will have 16 units which is quite a lot. What is your opinion on this? Thanks.

So you can use that free time to make friends and get a 4.0 GPA…

Is this the correct order that I should register for these three classes?
-German R5A-Phase 1
-Math 16A- Phase 2
-Chem 1A-Phase 2

Two questions:

Is it ok to take German r5a after taking German r5b?

What if both r & c courses are German?

the a and b versions or R&C are totally independent. You can take each without regard to the other. Both can be German, or they can be different.

R5B has an A class as a pre-req so technically no, you can’t take them in the order you are suggesting.
