Freshmen Summer

For two to three days a week, I have been working in a lab conducting research. I'm enjoying the experience. Hopefully, I'll use what I've been learning and create a good Intel Sci Fair project ;). Ambitious? Yes. Impossible? No.
In addition, in August, I plan on completing my summer reading (That should be fun, lol.), and I plan on volunteering again.

I'm going to have to echo rexrun. Granted, some people really enjoy volunteering, etc; but the OP's post seemed worried and scared that because he/she "wasted" their summer they won't get into a top 25 college. All we're saying is you can "waste" your summer (ie. relaxing, vegging, etc.) if you want and still get into a great college.

College apps don't even ask what you did your freshman summer. They only ask what you did your junior summer - sometimes sophomore (but rarely). But basically doing something this summer may help you get an internship/job whatever later on. but don't worry about the college app. a bit too early for that.

So all volunteer hours, extracurriculars, etc during freshmen summer is not considered at all?

That sucks.

HAVE FUN FRESHMAN SUMMER! It may be your last chance!

:)

when i was a rising sophomore. I think all I did was volunteer about 2 hours a week for 8 weeks, take 15 hours of art classes, and I went through PT for my broken hip (no softball that summer).
I recommend just doing some volunteering. believe me, when you want to do everything at once, you'll be glad you aren't like .... oh i wish I had time to do this... or that.
good luck

So if I did volunteer work this summer, will I not be able to include it as an EC for college?
