Friday's Class of 2011 procession

I am beaming! I am sooooo looking forward to parents' weekend. We are fortunate to be so technologically advanced to able to share our kid's experiences via live feed as well as all the greatly appreciated pictures! WOW!

i was having a hard time w the audio - what did the supe say regarding the length of the run??

they have to beat "the great class of 2010's" length...

I'm so proud of what these kids have done!

I'm really looking forward to Parent's weekend.

Audio could have been better but from Texas it looked great! I was able to pick out my son a couple of times, it does help that he was on the back row of the band.

Congratulations to the class of 2011

I'm not sure if I saw what you all saw! It looked like a blurry bunch of beige soldiers? Did anyone really recognize your son/daughter? And the audio was so garbled. I couldn't understand anything. He was talking about running? I am grateful for the opportunity to have seen the overall effect, though. It looked like a gorgeous afternoon on Long Island. Who carries the blue flags with company numbers?

The guides are selected from within the candidates of each company to carry the guidon. In most military units it is considered a position of honor. I imagine it is the same a KP.

I could not tell my son either. The faces all looked like the news ones where they blur out the identity. But the kids all looked great, and watching is the next best thing to being there. For those that could not hear the remarks VADM Stewart said the Naval Academy takes 8 weeks to do what our kids did in 2 and that the CGA Never does it LOL ;) He also said on the Sat run 2010 ran 5.2 miles and that the class of 2011 has to beat that, but not to fear, he was running with them so they would all be able to do it too!

Congrats 2011 & parents. They truly looked awesome.

clap clap clap whistle whislte clap clap clap

whooooo hooooooooooo

I got to seem my son without a problem. he's the one holding the rifle to the left of the flags (the right side on our screens)in the color guard. Even got an email from an unknown upperclassman yesterday telling me which one he would be. worked well. got some screen shots. I hope they will update with some still photos soon.
I got a letter from him this afternoon, that said he thought they were getting cell phones back this sunday to call with. we shall see. He also wrote about a regimental honor oath that they were called out for at about 1am saturday for (he thought they were being summoned for an execution at first). apparently quite impressive.

Yes! My son mentioned in his letter that one of the best parts of Indoc was the midnight midshipman oath. I was surprised my son would like anything he'd have to get out of bed for...it must have been very cool.

APE, I think i may have met that"unknown upperclassman" once or twice

Thanks, Suzanne, for letting me know what Vice-Admiral had to say! I didn't understand even one word. That's so great-know all the pcs felt really proud about what he had to say.
My son also wrote about the "milestone ceremony" in the middle of the night!
They are all doing so well! Aren't we just THE PROUDEST PARENTS EVER????

Has anybody heard how the Sat run went?

I bet they did 6K or more!!!

Was it kilometers or miles that the Vice-Ad was referring to? Of course by now, I am sure its all said and done so am anxious to hear?

He was talking "miles". Only a "Coastie" would run a kilometer. :)

LOL...MarineOps Dad.....Cross Country runners refer to it in Kilometers also....ie, 5k, 8k,,,,etc:D!

I know. Both of my kids ran CC. But one must never pass up an opportunity to have some fun at the Coast Guard's expense.

he, he, he,,,,,,always have fun that way dad!
