Hi! Does anyone know if I can bring a 4.4 cu ft fridge for dorm?

Sorry, the max volume allowed is 2.5 cubic feet.

yes, have read that and also that bigger is fine in practice. just didn’t know if 4.4 would get by.

basically no RAs care. and the CU bookstore sells “non regulation” fridges to students anyway. the only issue with a large fridge is how much space it can take up in a tiny dorm room–my room was 94 sq feet and the fridge (can’t remember how big it is, but something large, at least 4 cu ft) definitely was sort of a pain to fit, whereas a smaller one can easily go under a bed or something.

What about the common refrigerators in the dorm kitchenettes? Do students use them?

if you’re talking about first year housing/the LLC (integrated first year and upperclassmen housing), there aren’t common fridges (and John Jay and Carman hardly have kitchens worth mentioning). when there is a common fridge it does get used, but they get pretty gross and messy fast, so most people put things they don’t mind sharing in the common fridge and also hold on to their minifridges. plus, not all upperclass dorms have terribly functional kitchens. I think McBain (where most sophomores live) only has one kitchen per floor, and Wein (common for sophomores and unlucky juniors) has one kitchen in the basement.
