Has anyone bought a fridge micro combo for UCSD? Are they allowed? Does the school rent them? DD will be a freshman and isn't sure if she can have one in her dorm room.

Have you researched on the housing website? There seems to be lots of info here and she needs to know the rules. Sounds like they have or are going to be sending out packets/emails also. Good luck!

Make sure she checks with her roommates…they may already have one. And if you’re local or are driving there and have space, much cheaper to purchase one than to rent them, if there is a place to rent.

I think my kid brought the microwave and the roomie brought the mini-fridge.

I agree with the above - make sure she coordinates with the roomies so as not to duplicate items since only one fridge can be in the room.

At UCSD students typically stay in the res-hall the first year, on-campus apartment the second year (which already has a fridge), and then off-campus apartment (which already has a fridge) the third year so they typically only need the fridge the first year so keep that in mind before buying one - i.e. they typically would only use it for the first year.
