rym- I am, why?

Here is an advice, have friends only equal to yourself.

“SHE’S 18 now, and I called her and asked if she wanted to come with me and blow some birthday money, and all she said was “my mom can’t drive me”)”

So? I’m eighteen and I have this problem all the time. Sorry I don’t have my own car and my mom works during the day.

As for liking stuffed animals and High School Musical–again, SO? Let her like what she likes. I guarantee you, there will be plenty of people at your university who also like that stuff.

I can see both points. I have a friend like that and I worry for her, but I know she’s going to either change or not and I don’t care because well she’s a good friend.
At least she understands that a hot dog can be used as a ahemmm a sexual innuendo unlike a certain 17 year I know despite all the hinting. I fear for her and I admit I judge, but not harshly (more like a caring, “oh I hope you do well” kind of way).

Sorry, I have a license, but no car of my own. My dad uses the creeper van to drive two hours for work and my mom uses the mini-van to take my brothers to all his “busy” activities or work. I’m sorry.

Weelll, some people just mature with time. If that’s her personality, then it’s best to just let her be herself. A friend of mine is 17 and I consider her pretty mature. For her sweet sixteen we went to pump it up, it was super Fun though lol. And this yr for her 17th bday, a bunch of us went go-carting. The theme was Speed Racer lol. Another friend of mine is 19 & a college freshman, and shes obsessed with buzz light year. She has her own little buzz light year fan club. Its pretty legit actually lol. (they all dressed up as buzz this past Halloween). Your friend may like high school musical & stuffed toy animals, but so do a bunch of teens I know who are also 17/18. She’s probably mature in other terms.

I understand your worry, but I personally don’t see anything really wrong with her. Sure, stuffed animals and HSM pillows at that age may be weird…but lots of people do weird things. It’s not a bad thing. Maybe she just likes stuffed animals? Why is that so bad? I know grown people who still watch cartoons…if she likes HSM…so what? Those things don’t necessarily make someone immature. Everyone is different. Not all 18 year olds need to act the same.

She might change once she is away from home…but she might also find people who like her “immaturity” and have a lot in common with her and she might develop friendships with them. If her behavior bothers you so much, maybe you should go your seperate ways? Not all high school friendships last, sadly.

Do you know why she needs her mom to drive her? Not everyone has a car at that age. I know a lot of 18 year olds that didn’t have cars and had to either use their parents cars when they weren’t being used, or had to have their parents drive them.

I also agree with what someone else has said…women flirt like that with men at all ages.
