My friend got into both Harvard and Yale, chose Harvard but now realizes he wants Yale instead. Is it too late for him to switch?

Yes.
Next please.

No possibility for negotiation at all?

there's always possibilities for negociation...

if there's money involved....

He'd lose his deposit at Harvard and it's way more than likely that Yale has already given away his spot. If it was May 2nd and he was having second thoughts, then maybe. But yup, it's waaaaaaay too late.

I would think that all it would take would be a phone call to Yale admissions to see if it is possible.

Your friend needs to call Yale and find out. We can't answer his question.

LOL S Snack.

Harvard doesn't charge deposits. If you say you are going to enroll they take you at your word.

It is not to late to switch, but you will end up paying big time money wise.

that is if Yale has openings, freedomfighterxy....and why would they take somone who rejected them now when they have kids who always wanted to go there ready

and why did friend suddenly change his mind....what reason is he giving...because maybe Yale won't be right either

I wish I could have this dilemma!

Like northstarmom said, how likely is it that ANYONE on CC can have the right answer? Your friend needs to pick up a phone ASAP. If possible, even speak with the Yale Alumni Schools Commitee chair if one covers his/her area.

Yeah, just call Yale Admissions. But my guess would be no. And even if yes, he/she will have difficulties with housing etc.

Just me lucky your friend got accepted to both Harvard and Yale...wish I was in this situation...
