Friend changes his mind about attending Harvard. Is it too late?

Is it too late for him to switch to Yale?

It is not too late for him to say "no" to Harvard.

It is too late for him to say "yes" to Yale.

At one point, I was able to convince him to switch (I wasn't putting pressure, just asked him to seriously reconsider) but he was daunted by the hassle he'd have to go through (or that's just his way of telling me he doesn't really want to switch-- by saying it's too late). So, I asked on this forum to find out people experiences with it. Hmmm well I tried...

Why were you trying to convince him to switch? That just seems cruel to me. They are both great schools.

Yes, why try to convince him to switch? If it's after the deadline, it's not that likely that he can switch? Why are you so involved in his personal life? Both are excellent colleges. It's not as if his life is wrecked if he goes to Harvard.

He can apply for a transfer next year if he really wants to. My bet is he will love Harvard.

"It's not as if his life is wrecked if he goes to Harvard."

Yup, on the path to living under bridges as a drug-addicted, homeless, criminal.

There is still time, however, for Murray State. It's a top-10 university for those who love to hunt and fish. <a href="http://news.murraystate.net/index.php?/archives/112-Outdoor-Life-magazine-names-Murray-State-a-top-10-university-for-students-who-love-to-hunt-and-fish.html%5B/url%5D">http://news.murraystate.net/index.php?/archives/112-Outdoor-Life-magazine-names-Murray-State-a-top-10-university-for-students-who-love-to-hunt-and-fish.html</a> It's also the 11th safest place in the nation for college students - no need for "blue phones". ;)

Sounds like the topic to the thread should be

" I changed my friend's mind about attending Harvard. Is it too late?"

This is a joke thread, right?

"I changed my friends mind about attending Harvard."

more like "I changed my own mind"

I really feel sorry for him.....not.

Not only is it too late, but I would think anyone who got into Harvard would KNOW it is too late past May 1. I also think this person made a decision and chose to stick with it. I have no idea why you were trying to convince your friend. If he is smart enough to get into Harvard and Yale, he should be mature enough to make his own decisions and not be influenced by a friend.

Or are you the friend and this kid all in one? Are you posting just saying it was a friend?

If you are just the friend, why do you need to ask here on his behalf? If he wanted to switch schools, he'd look into it himself, the right way, by calling the schools, or in this case, I am sure he knows it is too late as you say he has told you that himself. So, why do you care?

Well, poor boy has to go to Harvard. I am sure he'll be just fine. If he didn't like the school, he would not have applied and he surely would not have chosen to enroll if he disliked it so much. Some kids have second thoughts after making a decision but something caused them to make that decision originally and so I am sure it will all work out.

I keep wondering if the OP is someone who's still on the Harvard waiting list.
