I really feel sorry for him.....not.

Not only is it too late, but I would think anyone who got into Harvard would KNOW it is too late past May 1. I also think this person made a decision and chose to stick with it. I have no idea why you were trying to convince your friend. If he is smart enough to get into Harvard and Yale, he should be mature enough to make his own decisions and not be influenced by a friend.

Or are you the friend and this kid all in one? Are you posting just saying it was a friend?

If you are just the friend, why do you need to ask here on his behalf? If he wanted to switch schools, he'd look into it himself, the right way, by calling the schools, or in this case, I am sure he knows it is too late as you say he has told you that himself. So, why do you care?

Well, poor boy has to go to Harvard. I am sure he'll be just fine. If he didn't like the school, he would not have applied and he surely would not have chosen to enroll if he disliked it so much. Some kids have second thoughts after making a decision but something caused them to make that decision originally and so I am sure it will all work out.
