Ok here's his basic stats

GPA W: 3.95
UC GPA: 4.05

ACT:23

President of NHS

He really wants to go to Berkeley but he realizes that his test scores are way out of that league. He's taken both tests twice and is going to do the ACT again but realistically he probably won't break a 26 and now he seems kinda lost... So I was wondering what good schools(top50) he would have a good chance at!

I made him a list to try if you don't mind chancing him here:
Penn State
UFlorida
UCSB
UCD
BU (I've heard different things about financial aid here?)
UMiami

He needs financial aid or scholarships, he wants to do premed (bio major) and has no preference between big or small schools or rural vs urban settings
Any suggestions would be fantastic!!!

Oh and 400+ community service hours

He should certainly apply for Cal since it is as easy as checking a box.

That said, Berkeley is a high reach unless if he writes some very convincing essays which would make it a reach. The other schools are matches to low reaches. UCSB is the toughest of the bunch. I’m not going to rate each one because he is getting in somewhat by strength of his ECs, which makes every school a variable in terms of whether he will be admitted.

He’s definitely still applying there since its his dream! And do you have any suggestions of other schools he should apply to?

Applying to all the other UCs is as simple as checking a box and paying an additional $70 per campus.

I guess so but the UCs don’t give the best OOS financial aid since they want full freight payers

Cmon guys, give some suggestions

He’d be good at UC’S, USF(SAN FRAN), U of Maryland, and Texas A&M(Only Undergrad. because of med school)

Bump 10char

Come on guys, anymore suggestions? Are there any LACs he should look at?
