It's that time of the year again, when the seasons are changing and everyone starts getting the sniffles. Tip: carry tissues, don't sit there and sniff the snot up your nose repeatedly while everyone in class has to listen to you. Everybody hates that annoying kid who can't go to the bathroom and get a damn tissue and instead sucks the snot back up, it is gross and you should stop. I'm literally typing this in a class where I feel like i'm on a farm surrounded by a family of hogs snorting away. Some of you repeatedly post asking why you have no friends and no one kisses you - this may be why.

also, if you are really sick, don't come to class at all. It's not a big deal to miss class, law schools will not reject you, just stay home because it makes other people sick. Especially if you have the flu, no one wants your damn flu.

also, if someone offers you a tic-tac, don't say no. what they're saying is your breath smells bad, really bad, so take the damn mint. I hate when I offer someone I have to talk to for an extensive period of time a mint and they say no (really hope my lab partner reads CC).

Thank you Alix, I was stuck sitting between 2 people in my physics lecture who were doing the snot sniffing thing for the entire 50 minutes. It was so gross and so annoying that it was difficult to concentrate on what was being said.

Misleading title. This was not, by any means, a “friendly” reminder. In fact, it was pretty darn mean-spirited all the way through. Maybe you need to put yourself in other people’s shoes and calm down a little bit, Alix.

Personally, I find it grosser to have someone constantly blowing their nose right next to me. I agree, it can be annoying, but seeing as I’ve been a sniffler before once or twice (as I’m sure 90% of us have been), I’m not going to fault them.

And I offer people mints because it’s nice, not because I find their breath repulsive.

panic, are you that type of kid Alix is talking about in his thread? You seem a bit insecure about his post. And now that swine flu is rampant among college campus’, I find his post pretty damn valid. ;)

I can’t agree with you on the tic-tac front. I’ve offered people mints before just to be nice, and I’ve been offered a mint while I was chewing minty gum. Sometimes it’s a hint, but sometimes it just isn’t.

I’m actually pretty much on board with panic on this one. This post justs comes off as b*tchy to me, not a friendly reminder.

haha yeah i offer people mints or gum just to be nice, but sometimes they really need it, ya know? :

i think allergies aren’t contagious so they don’t make a difference…when I said sick I mean actually sick (fever, cough, etc).

@panic - please don’t be offended, the post was only half-serious. I mean, we all do the sniff-up thing, so i’m guilty too, but it’s still gross and annoying. the worst is when you offer someone a tissue and then they say no…

@Smelly - oh stop it, you’re turning me on.

edit I’m sorry hyperJulie, i was in a bad mood this morning because my puppy is sick and threw up on my laptop  i agree it comes off as snarky.

Pshh, who cares if this hurts some people’s feelings. People need to learn to excuse themselves and blow their noses, cause it’s disgusting to always have to listen to the snorting thing.

Also, people offer gum and stuff all the time, so you’re right in saying it’s not always a hint. People, just please be aware of yourselves and how you come off to other people, so you know when you’re being hinted at.

^ getting up and casually walking out to get a tissue isn’t any more disturbing than sitting there for the next hour sniffing your snot up and down your nose…and when it’s the whole class doing it at once, that’s just annoying lol.

anyway, some of y’all are taking this too seriously, i’m just saying, if you’re sick, please don’t make everyone sick. and if you’re not sick and just have a cold, use tissues…everyone will appreciate it. i mean, i don’t see how this is anything to argue over…

oh my god… this guy in one my classes today, he was blowing his nose at least 70% of the time. the teacher was trying to speak over it but at some points i couldn’t concentrate at all. the worst of it is that he would pile up the used tissues on his desk and every 15 seconds or so he would try to find one which had a little bit of dry space left in it
