I'm sure this has been asked before, but what do your friends think about your decision to apply to boarding school?

Well, a ton of kids at my school are applying, so they just say they will miss me and stuff like that

They think I am crazy, that I want to leave from where I am living right now (Which I will say is in the south), and go up north for school. But they are like, I don’t want you to leave, and I am just laughing to get rid of the awkward feeling.

^exact same here

lol my friends are either “what is that?” or “is that like WMA but better?” or my favorite “LUCKY!” haha (that reminds me of napoleon dynamite

They say that they will miss me and that I can do great things at the school I am at now.
Also that I will get into really bad “rich people” drugs, in a way that makes it sound like my school doesn’t have drugs (it does!)

I’m the only one in my school, and in my family applying to BS. My friends think I’m insane to want to go away because I won’t have time to party and do some crazy stuffs with them. They even tried to convince my mother Not to let me go after I finished to convince my mother to let me apply to BS. They said that they will miss me. I will miss them too, but is life and people move on.

Well, a lot of the kids at my school are applying to boarding school, so a lot of the kids in my grade already know about it, so they’re just like, “Are you applying to boarding school?” to which I reply, “Yep.” Then they’d say something like, “Oh… why?” and the conversation would go on from there. I guess they don’t really care - it’s just another school.

im the only one in my school applying to boarding school and my friends are kind of in denial about it, and dont want to discuss it. i get that they dont want me to leave but it seems a little rude that they arent asking me about the school at all

Going to boarding school is a huge decision for me since I come from a foreign country. “Applying to boarding school” is usually an unfamiliar concept for my friends; they often stereotype kids who study abroad as spoiled and rich ones (don’t know why!). I have only disclosed my decision to several best friends, but if I receive good news on March 10th, I’ll let everyone know.

assign- yea same here, ive only told a couple of my friends, but after March 10th, if i get in, i will tell more people

I told a few of my friends, but now it seems like everyone knows… my friends are also kind of in denial, like they don’t want me to go, but they don’t want to tell me that they don’t want me to go so they never talk about it probably hoping I will forget about the whole thing. When I told one of my friends (the first one I told) her reaction was:
“WHAT You don’t want to go to BOARDING SCHOOL… do you?”

smiley- yea my friends wont talk about it either really. they have told me they dont want me to go though, which stinks.
