Friends

Whom do you call a friend? How long does it take for you to give someone else that position? I'm really interested in people's concept of friendship. On one hand, so many people say they're "best friends" with someone in a week while some others take years.

If I talk to someone during school every day or even just once every other day then I consider them my friend. I guess the friends I have that I hang out with outside of school would just be known as my closer friends.

^hmm I like to take the same approach but I notice a lot of people don’t like that. Some people are painfully polite to you but never consider you a friend. For me, level of friendship is determined by how much u connect with someone. IDK

People who’s company I enjoy.

I tend to have lesser requirements put upon people for me to think of them as a friend that way I think I have more and it raises my self esteem <3

Someone that I always talk to and hang out with the most. We’re just like sisters…we can share and talk about almost anything.

I think you can become bestfriends after at least a year. I have 2-3 bestfriends an I’ve known them for years (some since 3rd grade–even though they live overseas we still contact each other  )

I’ve made a lot of “good close” friends since I’ve moved here. We get along quite well and we’re laughing our asses of 75% of the time we’re around each other. They’re also pretty honest and upfront about stuff…they WILL tell me if I look like ****. LOL.

This might be weird, but I feel like I have different standards for friends that are guys and friends that are girls (I’m a girl, btw). For guys, if I talk to them everyday at school and we get along well, I consider them my friend. For girls, though, I feel like it takes a lot longer for me to consider them my friend because I don’t trust girls as much as I do guys.
Guys are just so much easier to hang out with, IMO

Well, I have a best friend, but we kinda just clicked? And after 3 years of consistently hanging around his craziness it’s like either we’re best friends or just insane.

Other friends are still close, like we can just joke around and chill and act like total idiots without it seeming odd. Like, you know that saying “a friend will bail you out of jail, a best/good friend will be behind the cell with you saying ‘man that was fuuun’”? Yeah, the latter are my friends.

If you’re somebody I would actually call to hang out with, you’re my friend. I find this is actually a pretty exclusive definition. There’s a whole bigger, much larger class of people who I’m familiar with and whose company I enjoy. I guess they’re my friends too, but not really because I wouldn’t call them to hang out with them.

Best friend is a matter of mutual emotional attachment, I think.

I make acquaintances in a minute. It takes me months to befriend others.
So a friend is a person whom I trust and like to hang out with.
