Friends

Do any of you have friends that are vastly different from you? Academically or otherwise.

yes indeedy

Most of my friends are a lot like me–smart and quirky.

Except I’m in-the-near-future/quasi-dating a boy who is…how do you say…well, he has a 2.5 GPA and is going to Junior College next year. He’s not stupid (2310 Superscore on the SAT), but he’s not, er, like me, shall I say.

How do I put this… from the people I am TRULY friends with (hang out with and whatnot) only a couple are smart/decently smart. I’d say 90% of my friends are quite the opposite =P Low grades, testing scores, perhaps no motivation, none are going to any decent colleges. -_- They consider me a genius, where I am totally not

Then there are some other friends from school who I don’t really hang out with much but talk to a lot in school who are smarter than I.

All my friends range a lot in terms of everything else

My best friend is Asian if that means anything.

Most of my friends are a lot like me.

I mean we all have our areas that we focus in–One of us does art. Another is in choir/opera. I’m the band geek, and the only band geek. We have an orchestra girl. We have two Mormons. A girl who is fairly Buddhist but exploring her spirituality. I’m not sure what the other is. But we all have the same sense of humor and find math and English pick up lines fantastic.

But on another note, I thought this thread would be about the tv show “Friends”.

Yea, I guess my friends and I are alike for the most part.

my friends are completely unmotivated, carefree (one of my best friends went to a houseparty til 2 am the night before the ACT’s…), and sometimes irritatingly clueless. haaha they all think im crazy for working as hard as i do. they keep me grounded and they remind me to lighten up. i love them :]

My friends are similar to me (overachievers, actress, musicians, etc).
The majority of my friends are older than I am (11th and 12th while I am in 10th).

it means a lot

you’re going to become one of us YESSS

I have a variety of friends. The friends I have classes with are all pretty smart and involved in the school, community, and whatnot in various ways. My other friends…well, people on this site would call them underachievers because they’re the partying, pot-smoking, different-hookup-every-weekend, 2.5 GPA types. But I love them the most and the experiences we have together.

Large variety of friends. Asian, white, hispanic, brown. Maybe 2 or 3 black people though.

Lol the competition between me and the brown people to see who can do better. That started freshman year, it ended that June.

Now they all respect me and I’m the new ChaCha service.

I have three groups of “friends”.

The first group consists of my close friends. These are the people I share a lot about myself (stuff that nobody else knows) ad we talk about everything. These people I trust and they are genuinely the only people I’d typically like to hang out with.

The second group consists of my “friends”. This group basically consists of all the overachievers and people who are ranked right around me class rank wise. Basically, they’ll stab you in the back and bring you down if they can. Not really friend material, but it’s good to keep your enemies closer.

The third consists of the people you wouldn’t expect me to be friends with. These people are considered weird by most or druggy/slutty. With my reputation, I am considered the last person that would be friends with these people, but I am. Most of them don’t have the naive mindsets of the overachieving kids and are generally more mature.

I like to have a variety of friends.
But my school friends I meet either from classes or extracurriculars so we’re fairly similar.

I have a variety of friends, but most of them are white, because most of my classes are white, and mostly white kids do the stuff I do, and because I usually don’t fit in with black people. My friends are kind of grouped in classes/activites. Like my 1st block friends who are the popular kids that I’ve been “sorta” friends with since middle school, then 3rd block are the overachievers like me, they are probably some of my closest friends, then my XC/track friends (another group of close friends), then my out of school friends, then my lunch friends, who are the people that nobody would expect me to hang out with, ie. the druggies who hookup every other night, but I love them :)

The thing I hate most is when people talk about politics 24/7. I mean they DON’T STOP talking about republicans/democrats/libertarians, and everything else.

I befriended a pretty smart guy last year, and he was chill, and very modest about his high grades. But when I got to know him, he turned out to be pretty fake inside, very boastful about his “intelligence” and good grades. So I started to pay less attention to him…

That was a rant, sorry haha. But I look just for just someone who is just fun to be around/chill, I’m not very picky. But the egotistical/annoying people like I just mentioned just get on my my nerves the most.

My very best friend in the world is my intellectual twin.

The rest of my friends vary a lot, from math geniuses, to dumb blonds, actresses, computer science majors, binge drinkers, soccer players, “slutty” girls, Sartre readers and chefs wannabes.

Not VASTLY different. I like to surround myself with people smarter than me. Competition brings out the best in everyone.

Not really. Were all smart, and mature, and love to talk about various topics. And on top of that we have the funniest sense of humour.

My friends at school pretty much fit into one of the three catagories…

 1. Mates I know from just one or two classes/extracurriculars, who I talk to a few times a week, where we discuss the class we have together or laugh over the few inside jokes we have between us
 2. The people who are a part of the group of people I usually associate with, I talk about many different things in life with them, I can be joking or kind of serious with them
 3. My closest school friends, we talk about normal everyday subjects sometimes, but most the time (unless somebody has a problem that needs to be sorted out) we just laugh over a lot of inappropriate and random stuff :D
