My first year out of high school I attended community college for one year, and got a 2.0 gpa. I dropped out for several years, and have now gone back and am currently in my 4th semester. By the looks of things I should still have a 4.0 by the end of this semester, not including my very first year of course. Even if I maintain a 4.0 gpa for the next year, I can only achieve a 3.6 cumulative. So basically my question is (assuming I maintain my current 4.0 at this school), with 2.5 years, 76 credits of 4.0 gpa, and 3 associates in math, business, and liberal arts, all while working 25+ hours a week, will I be at all competitive at say, Berkeley as an econ major, or UCLA as math/econ, considering my first year of college drops my gpa to 3.65?

Great job! you have to know, those schools are very selective, even at the transfer level. The admission criteria varies by major but, avg GPA was 3.71 for UCLA and 3.77 for UCB. Despite your hard work, they are both reaches. I’d encourage you to apply to both and submit a compelling personal statement but, also TAG UCD or another school more likely to admit you.
Good luck.

In one year how many credits you completed? If you have completed 20% of your total credit than it is possible to achieve 3.6. Otherwise it could be difficult for you to achieve this result.
