Before I get to Amherst, I have some questions I was hoping someone would have some answers to.

Orientation is coming up soon… and I’ll be flying in to the Bradley International Airport in CT. What would be the easiest way to get to school (mind, I’ll be lugging around 2/3 travel bags)? And how easy is it to grab a taxi? Then, once I get to school, where would I go to get my dorm key? My last question is… Amherst mailed me the Course Catalog a while back. Would it be best if I brought it along? or would they give me another one once I get there? Thanks for any help!

They didn't tell you what to do in the package? That's surprising.

You can either catch the Valley Transport Shuttle (reservation required. just google for their website) or a cab. Cabs are fairly easy to find... but I'm not certain since this is the beginning of the school year for all five colleges.

The dorm key will be at Campus Police. Valley Transport should know where it is, cabbies might not. If your driver doesn't know it, just stop and ask ppl.

Course Catalogs can be found easily at the registar office, but it wouldn't do much harm to bring one with you and read it beforehand, don't you think?

For your dorm key/orientation packet stuff, if you get there in the morning/early afternoon that stuff will actually be in Converse Hall, which is pretty much the first building you'll see when pulling onto campus. If you arrive later on in the day, then alum is right and it will be at campus police.

When we arrived last year, there was a schedule (you may not have received it yet) and there were stations at Converse to go to and one of them was the room key. From there, there were various activites and time to move in, etc.
