From a High School Senior

I attended Dickinson this past summer as part of the Pre-College program. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the college and thought it might be helpful to hear the opinion of someone in the same position as you.

Is there anything to do in Carlisle? (...other than become an alcoholic, which is all I've really heard about social life there.)

Well, Carlisle is a nice town as far as small towns go. However, since I come from a big city, I found Carlise to be quite boring. The most interesting place to go at night was probably the Wal-Mart shopping center where there is a Panera, a movie theater, and some small stores. The town of Carlisle itself is small and has a main street with some restaurants on it. However, those tired quickly. So, to answer your question, there isn't much to do in Carlisle. As far as college towns go however, it wasn't terrible. It's not like Hamiliton or Colgate where the a town is pretty much non-existent. Overall, I think you should visit though and see what you think of Carlisle yourself. My roomate was from a rural area of Pennsylvania and found Carlisle to actually be a big and exciting town. Hopefully, that explaination helped somewhat.

I visited and I got pretty much the same impression as you. I live in a small town, but it's close to NYC and I grew up in Houston so...

Thanks for the info though.
