How do I get from Boston to Brunswick? I’m visiting Tufts’s Open House on April 19-21 and I plan to go straight from there to Bowdoin for the Open House on the 22nd and the 23rd. Can I take the shuttle? Do I need to make reservations? How long will the trip take?

You can take a cab ($30) to Boston's North Station. There is an Amtrak train from Boston to Portland, Maine, called the Downeaster, that will take about two hours. They run four times a day. You can also fly from Boston Logan to Portland International in about 30 minutes.

Portland is about 30 miles from Bowdoin so you are going to have to find out from the School if they can pick you up at either the airport or the train station. A cab ride from Portland to the school will be expensive.

I would suggest that you take the bus - Concord trailways operates a bus from South Station to the Bowdoin campus.

Take the T right into South Station, then get a student rate for bus tickets on Concord trailways "Maine Coastal Route"

BUS OPTIONS:
leave south station at 12:01 PM or 5:15 PM
arrive Bowdoin 2:40 PM or 7:50 PM.

That's definitely the cheapest and easiest way to get there.

Ooops, sorry, my mistake:

i second the bus option. cheap AND direct (compared to the cab/train or plane/cab or shuttle option).

greyhound/some line connected with greyhound (which can be found on the greyhound website) also has a bus that comes to brunswick - or at least they did last time i took the bus.

between concord trailways and greyhound, there should be plenty of options for time of departure/etc.

Thanks Guys. I think I'll take the bus
