Hey~ I’ve just booked an airplane ticket to Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Conn. and was wondering how I might get to Amherst. Is there a reliable taxi or shuttle service? Also, how much would this cost? I have no idea how I’m going to get to school with all my luggage, so any replies would help a lot. Thanks!

Most students use valley transporter, a shuttle service from Bradley Intl, to get to Amherst. Here's their website for rates and services.

Also, as far as luggage is concerned, most use trunks and ship them to Amherst. Postage is a hassle, but it's the only way for most Freshman to get all their junk on campus

D uses Valley Transport - they allow a couple suitcases on the van. You are probably too young to rent a car, but if possible, bring a parent along who can. We rented a van, and hauled all D's stuff in it to campus. Or, if that isn't an option, use Linens N Things Service where you choose and prepay for everything you will need at home, and it is waiting for you at the store in Hadley. You can take the bus from campus to the stores and pick the stuff up yourself. Also, because it is the college program, they will allow you to use as many coupons as you have at one time to discount the cost. The coupons come in the mail - check with parents for those and start saving them! Good luck!
