From Carleton to Medical School?

How many students from Carleton, are usually accepted to a Medical School? Which brings me to my next question: Are there a lot Pre-med students at Carleton?

As a current freshman, I will note that, at least ostensibly, pre-med and pre-professional students in general seem to be fairly uncommon, especially in comparison with other peer LAC’s (Bowdoin, Amherst, etc).

I think a lot of pre-med (and especially pre-law) students at Carleton tend to fly under the radar. Obviously, there’s no pre-med/pre-law/pre-whatever major here, but there’s a special advising system designed to assist students with those interests. You can get in touch with the pre-health advisor and find out more about pre-med at Carleton through the website: [Carleton College: Pre-Medical Program](http://apps.carleton.edu/curricular/premed/)

I agree that pre-med students here are not very obvious, but I do personally know 3 and maybe more who I just don’t know they’re pre-med, so it’s not like they’re nonexistent. From what I have seen/heard my impression is that pre-professional students from Carleton in general do pretty well in admissions.

Fly under the radar they do. Despite all the phd prone Carls running around campus, the last numbers I’ve seen suggest 8% or so head off to med school each year. Acceptance rates are very high and placement very good.

Well, I know at least 4 or 5 that I could list off the top of my head. In my freshman intro bio class alone, there were at least 5 kids who wanted to go pre-med - that I knew of. There was almost certainly more. For a liberal arts college, I think there are definitely a fair amount of pre-med students…I guess they just fly under the radar for some.

Does anyone know how good is the medical school acceptance rate?
