from csu to uc? do classes transfer?

hi, I'm new to this forum since i just discovered it today while googling info on transferring from a csu to uc. I just started my second year at San Francisco State University and have suddenly made up my mind about wanting to transfer to a UC next fall. I'm looking at UC Davis, but thinking about Berkeley too, but I know its aiming REALLY high on that one, probably too high... but still. During high school I kind of slacked off, lost motivation (family probs) and decided to not even try applying for UC's so I ended up at State, thinking that I was satisfied with myself. but now I want something better for myself and realize it might not be too late yet, since junior year is a good point to transfer right? even though csu to uc transfers are of a lower priority, do you guys think its do-able for an average me? I wouldn't consider myself an overachieve like many people on here (browsing around, some people have crazy amounts of EC's..) I took a couple pre-ap and AP classes here and there in high school, no exams taken though, worked and graduated with a 3.91. my SAT score was horrible (took 3x and didn't improve much) -- so embarassing that I'm not even going to say the score on here, and I didn't take SAT II's (hence, I didn't apply to any UC's). at SFSU as a biology major, I began some of my major science courses and will be almost done with GE (segment I and II) by the end of this semester. does anyone know if seg III is required for UCs and for the transfer? I have a 3.51 right now and on an "upward trend", made the deans list last semester.. worked on campus this past year as a work study student assistant and want to volunteer somewhere soon. I'm looking at student organizations to join too..

so phew, that's me. I feel so overwhelmed right now because reading what some people wrote, about writing their essays for months and listing all their mile long "stats" makes me nervous. especially since this decision was so last minute and I have merely 2 months to prepare. can anyone offer any little bit of advice? I'm so lost on the classes I can transfer over too, since assist.org doesnt include csu classes compared to UC's. I'd hate to have to retate some classes that UC's don't accept. any help would be greatly appreciated!

Look at each school's required transfer classes and see if you can take the classes at your CSU that matches up with the requirements. I'd personally talk to a UC Davis and UC Berkeley counselour if I were you.
