I have a BSc in environmental scienc, can I have have an Msc in environmental engineering? If I can are there some difficulties that I’ll face? Thanks.
of course you can, youll probably be given a few engineering courses to take (undergraduate level) before takin the master classes and thats about it (about 4 courses). I did the switch from science to engineering for my masters. The undergrad classes were not easy though they told me to get at least B on all of em.
Thanks very much
Just stumbled upon this thread. Mid-1980’s, I was a biochem major who was surrounded by engineers, and I didn’t want to work in a lab. I spent my senior year electives taking engineering classes and got into a one-year MS program in Civil/Sanitary-Environmental Engineering. Probably half of the people in that masters program were like me–undergraduate science degrees, not engineering degrees. With my MS in engineering, I was able to get hired by a consulting engineering firm for things like industrial wastewater projects, gas station clean-ups, etc. I definitely felt that there was a difference in the type of work I could do vs a “real” civil engineer. After a couple of years I ultimately went back to school in a different field and never looked back. In hindsight, I could probably have had a reasonable career if I had stayed on that path, but I did feel that the “real” engineers didn’t really accept the crossovers. Had I stayed in the field, I would definitely have worked to get my PE (professional engineer’s) license. I was able to get my EIT (Engineer in Training) with no problem (basically taking a test). Now this was 30 years ago–don’t know how much things have changed.
