Hello all-

I am currently a freshman at a 'good' school, an Ivy or an equivalent. I don't want to give away any personal identifiable information, so I will have to be vague in some parts. I will say that I am at one of these schools: (Cornell, Duke, Dartmouth, UChicago).

I haven't really liked my current school much. I am looking at applying to Harvard, Yale, Stanford, UPenn, Columbia, and Brown, though this list is quite tentative.

My reason for applying will be my current school lacks an EC that is absolutely crucial to me. I think this will be a very good reason that the colleges will respect, especially in addition to some of the other problems I have will my college.

My high school stats were as follows:

3.9 unweighted GPA, unranked (but near top)

800 M, 780 V, 780 W. SAT IIs: 800, 800, 770

ECs: captain of two sports, editor in chief of newspaper, vp of class, and some other stuff. One fantastic rec, one good one.

My college resume hasn't yet been fully formed yet. My GPA will be high, hopefully around 3.8. I hope to have some very good ECs too.

What do you think I should do to better my chances, and how do you think my chances are at this point?
