From Japan!

Hi, I'm a junior (going up senior this spring) in Japan (a Japanese citizen) and want to go to a LAC.
However, I have done really few EC activities. What are my matches and reaches? Judge me with all those assumptions in consideratioin.

My school is one of the best 10 high schools in Japan.
GPA: Freshman 3.2; Junior 3.5(just assumption); Senior 3.9(just assumption)
SAT: CR 550; Ma 800; Wr 550, World History 750; Biology 750; Math II 800

And what IF I become President of the student government in the senior year?

If none of good LACs are my reaches, I'll go to Tokyo University...

Thank you

bump...
Somebody, please. My EC activities are

Nara talk session : ambassador of school
Class president : 1.5 year
Volunteer : Western Canada Wilderness Committee, 6 days
Taste of Health Festival
Gordon Neighbourhood House, community festival
(not sure if this counts though,)1-month stay in vancouver for language study
Job experience : at the hall for the Great Buddha at Todaiji Temple, some 7 days in total
manual labor at a mall under construction

And.... yeah, that's all I guess.

Thank you!

I suspect it doesn't add up anything significant though,

I was a Music Club member for 1/2 year

Well, your SAT II scores are great but I think you should improve the CR and Writing of your SAT
The President of Student Org is a good extracurri that you should pursue, really :)
What about your ranking ? I think with such great SAT 2 scores, Conncoll would be your ideal college as it does not require SAT 1, Bates, Trincoll and Bowdoin seem to be OK :)

Thank you hlvietlong! I didn't know there were colleges that don't require SAT I.

Any other guys?

That's Connecticut College and Trinity College, both in Connecticut. You might also want to look at Dickinson College, Lehigh, Bucknell, and Lafeyette in Pennsylvania and Case Western in Ohio.

@totziens: there are quite a few colleges without SAT I (but needs TOEFL): Bowdoin, Bates, Hamilton, Brandeis, Trinity College, Connecticut College... They're all top LACs :)
By the way, I accidentally search on this 4rum for Jpnese students as I was seeking help to my Jpnese learning :D Could you help me, totziens ?:D I just don't know where to start and how to learn Jpnese, especially the Writing :D

Now I found out that "WHAT ARE MY REASCHES?" doesn't make any sense, does it!?
I MEANT, WHAT COLLEGES ARE POSSIBLE FOR ME??

please, someone help!!

OMG. You're making Tokyo University sound like your safety...It is so prestigious. It's my biggest dream to study abroad there!

Well, maybe not "biggest". but big enough to be a dream.

No, it is nothing like a safety. I will have to study horribly hard anyway.
I think it's the difference between Japanese and US education that makes us hard to study abroad. It is WAY harder for me to go study at a LAC, even than U of tokyo.

What colleges do you think I can be admitted to?

www.fairtest.org gives a list of schools that dont require the SAT 1.

Thanks! That'll help me a lot.
but... perhaps I need most now is advice on which schools are my matches.... please anyone!

-Totziens

totziens: doko no gakko ni itte iru no? atashi aogaku ni itta..

todai ni ikeba? :)
