Assuming you were starting with little knowledge of these subjects and had not taken the prerequisite course, which books would you recommend for self-studying these:

AP AB & BC Calc.
AP Psychology
AP Chemistry
AP Biology
AP Physics B
AP World History
French :D

Thank you all very much for your input. I highly appreciate it.

When I was taking the AP Bio exam (going on four years ago) the Cliffs review was known for being really good. I also bought the Barron's review book, and I thought it was awful.

You do know these books are just review, all the posters above me did not self study ,but they took it in school. That's my advice. Trust me, You won't be ready for any of these no matter how hard you try, take it in school. You aren't even self studying these....which is pretty funny because you said you weren't before and you're a freshmen. Noone can self study APs and expect to do well. Self-studying APs aren't even allowed for credits in school or on your transcript. INDEPENDENT STUDY IS DIRECTED, IT IS NOT COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT. This is not independent study. The french is different from French 1.

I am not self-studying all of them Masterus. This is to be used as a reference for the future.

I do not care if I get credit or not; it is for the knowledge. Some people seek it - while others seek only praise. It is not the age Masterus. It results to only dedication and will. I don't believe you know my study habits - or how long I study, for that matter. I want to learn French because I want to learn French. Not because it is or isn't "French I."

Your knowledge and desire to learn is your own; it is not of your school.

No, I meant self studying with textbooks and all. Like I'm homeschooled (sort of) and I'm using two textbooks in addition to a review book (and a variety of other supplemental books).

Ah, I see. Any specific textbooks? Currently, my only 'supplement' is the AoPS Volume I and perhaps AMC 10\12 Questions, but they don't always pertain to material taught in classrooms. I still love them though. :p

Calc -- I like Stewart best but everyone screams Thomas, so maybe use that.
Chem -- Zumdahl is good. It'll also prepare you for the olympiad.
Bio -- Campbell
Physics B -- University Physics by Sears/Zemansky. Best with prior knowledge of calculus. Serway's got good problems.

I have found all of these books for under $10. Should I go for it?
o Physics is $5.15 (10th Edition),
o Calculus with Analytic Geometry by George Thomas for $1.95, (9th Edition)
o Zumdahl's Chemistry with Study Guide for $5.00 (2002).
o Campbells Biology 5th Edition for $5.00

I doubt you could gain the necessary for the french language exam (much less literature) in a single year without having any background in it. I don't know, you might be a linguistic genius, but otherwise... you're supposed to have at least 3 or 4 years of strong preparation in it. No review book will make you learn it well enough to take the exam in a year. Just wanted to mention that..
