yeah want a scholarship slash prepkid, you're great and twenty years from now when these prep schools invite you to speak at their school, you can let it rub off them and make them sorry they never took you! lol.

i know what prepkid means. mostly everyone here are good students, therefore everyone cant help feeling somewhat confident. the fact is, mostly everyone applying to these prep schools are great students, or at least have some amazine quality.

she just wants to warn you that these schools are unpredictable - even if you're a great student, have everything going for you, you still can get rejected. and you have to prepare yourself for the worst.

and another thing. dont get upset over some other kid. during the app process i was practically seething (mighta mentioned this before) because this kid from Mass, white, not applying for FA, average A student, unconnected, totally untistinguished kid got into some of the top schools. pretty much every school he applied to. can u say "unfair"??

so be prepared. some of the best will get in. some of the best will get rejected. sometimes it's by luck. be prepared, but dont forget to be on the bright side. you'll go crazy if you allow yourself to get totally stressed.

prepkid will u apply this year? apply to MPS, maybe you'll get in and then you can come with me sophomore year!

It is possible to be in this situation when someone applies exclusively to reach schools whether or not that person needs financial aid. For some applicants, the key to happiness in March is to find perhaps 2 match schools and one safety that you love. There are great schools out there with lower prestige that can take you as far as you want to go. Thank you for sharing your sad story. It doesn't sound like you want to try again; if you change your mind, please consider broadening your search. Good luck to you!

Burb Parent, I want to thank you for your insightful words.

I may be guilty of this as well, but it seems the CC prep school threads get so caught up in a handful of schools that young students think these schools hold the keys to the kingdom, when it is not necessarily so. In fact it is not a prerequisite to success or admission to HYP.

There imagine many parents and students feeling intimidated when reading about bs, and may never join in because of this feeling.

As for PrepKid, I believe you are worthy of any school, and your experience may well one day be looked upon by you as a watershed event/moment that led to your enormous success.

I'm back! Europe was wonderful. As I returned last night, I had a sharp "back to reality" realization when I saw the many boxes in my room. It was time to start packing for boarding school . I just wanted to thank everyone for their help throughout the application process. It can be really stressful at times, and when NO ONE from your town has ever heard of boarding school, you may, like I did, feel like you're alone in the very strenuous admissions process. As I first looked around CC, I found some comfort in knowing that I am definitely not the only one. So, as the application process starts up again, and as schools resume, I wish everyone the best of luck! I will try to continue reading and updating on the forum... and, if anyone has any questions about anything regarding admissions, feel free to PM me! Thanks again!
