Frontloaded Freshman Financial Aid?

My son reaaaaaallly wants to go to UChicago and the preliminary FA estimate we got was very generous. However, I am nervous about what happens with FA his sophomore year. Does anyone know UChicago’s tendencies in that area? I have heard horror stories from other schools. My son has a full scholarship to Vanderbilt on the table and we are willing to pass on that if UChicago is what he really wants, as it is doable right now. But I would hate for him to pass on a wonderful opportunity from Vanderbilt, only to have the rug pulled out from under him next year Any parents or current upperclassmen have insights for me? Thanks.

UChicago’s FA is very consistent, at least in our case. We are very grateful.

Parent of a 3rd year, very generous and consistent here as well.

My experience with UChicago is very good. Not only with FA, but also with the help with funding for summer employment and / or travel abroad. Good luck, though. A full ride to Vandy would be hard for our family to turn down.
