i read on another post that princeton doesn't consider your grades from freshman year... is this true?? I've never heard of that before...

Try reading the admission website? It should say there.

They don't consider it.

I'm glad to hear that. I have a 3.4 for my freshmen year. If I ever have a chance of being accepted to Princeton, it sure will have disappeared if the college looked at this gpa.

gasp not a 4.0? You'll NEVER make it.

/sarcasm

GPA isn't everything, and a 3.4 isn't even all that bad.

LoL, okay, okay. It's not that bad, but still it really lowers my chances.

Private_Joker, Think a little bit right now about what you love. Or what makes you not pay attention to anything else. That's what you see in these kids on this board in the class of 2009. They have a unique voice each of them.

?????????????

my voice designates you as the official c/o 2009 mom.

Although they don't consider freshman grades, they do see them.

Mattomatic - I share the title with cookiemom and some others and appreciate the honor. Polish Dude - I'm an old hippie, we were brainwashed with the Follow Your Bliss stuff and even as we toil to send our kids to Princeton we hear the siren song of find a passion faintly in the distance. Does that help the comprehension:)?

I think what alumother's getting at is the 2009 admits each had a passion or committment or something that made them stand out beyond grades and test scores. Maybe the 3.4 was because you were wholeheartedly pursuing your goal of becoming an Olympic ballroom dancer and as a result your grades suffered a bit, and if that's the case, the time and effort you dedicated to being a world-class (or even just mediocre) ballroom dancer is more important to the adcoms than the fact that you didn't understand freshman algebra. Does that make sense? Or am I just confusing everyone more? lol

That makes sense. After some thought, I'm not worried about my 3.4 gpa. It's a good gpa for many colleges out there. I won't get into Princeton, anyway lol.

I hope that doesn't mean you're giving up on a school you genuinely like. If you weren't that interested in Princeton anyway, then well, ok whatever, but if it's been your dream, I don't think you should give it up because of freshman grades.

Yeah, i agree with zant. "I don't think i'll get in" is not a good enough reason to not apply... if you love the place, then go for it! You never know what could happen.
