I'm frustrated that NU has great program in performing arts, both in music and theater, but not in VISUAL ART. It barely even seems to exist..
I'm interested in both film and art. and i'm applying b/c of NU's great film program, but i just wish there was a little more going on with visual art.
I've searched many schools that have quality program in both film and art, but it was hard to find, b/c i'm also looking for flexibility (so like NYU is good in both, but there's little flexibility) and strength in both theory and production.
Northwestern fits my condition almost in every way, but the fact that visual arts scene is so obscure and unsupported discourages me from really fully liking NU

just letting my frustration out..
correct me if i'm wrong about something. any comments, concerns, advices? or other recommendation of schools?

Yes, i'm aware of that program, but thank you anyway.
at first i was excited to know about it too, but i realized that it's very focused on "digital" stuff and has a lot to do with computer science and technology as much as, or perhaps even more than "art" so.. i was rather disappointed

i think you should email some of the professors at art theory and practice department. given that there are only 80 majors, the chance of any one of them coming to CC to address your concern is very slim.

This is a somewhat dated newsletter but the university is trying to provide some type of visual arts awareness:

September/October 2008 Visual Arts Calendar

Have you also checked out the art schools in the Chicago-area like SAIC?

Well, i know SAIC pretty well, but i'm not very interested in art schools in particular. But does Northwestern have any affiliation with SAIC by any chance?? that would be AWESOME
