Alright, so my orientation is relatively early (8 days after
the first one for freshman) yet all the teachers I want
are either considered "staff" (wasted research), or
are taken (Mckinley and Moore...nooo!!!)

Should I take those classes in the second semester and hope
to have better luck with registration? And if I stick it out...
would it be better to gamble having a graduate student try to
teach or to go with a professor with a mediocre-ish class
GPA (2.6-ish)

Also, in your experience, how fast do lower level classes fill
out in the second semester when you register through onestart?
If I opt to take certain classes second semester, I just want to
make sure the server won't crash at the first hour, preventing me from
signing up for my classes hahaah.

It might be better to wait if you have AP credit coming. AP credit should show up on your academic record during Fall 08 in time for you to register earlier for Spring 09 classes than current freshman who don't have AP credit coming. In other words, you will have an earlier registration appointment for Spring 09 than any freshmen who have less college credit than you at the time registration times are assigned.

Sadly I don't have AP credit to eliminate those classes :( Wait, registration
is still in class-order for second semester? I thought they just post up a
date and time when registration will be online (november-ish) and then
students just sign up from there?

Also, because of those chinks to my master schedule plan, I am somehow
going to take this convoluted excuse of a schedule that still fits my grade
formula and major/minor requirements. *** is this???

FIRST SEMESTER – 17 credits
1. A100 – Accounting (1 cr)
2. M 118 Finite Math (N+M) (3 cr)
3. ENG-w 170 Intro to argumentative writing (3 cr)
4. BUS X 104 Business Presentations (3 cr)
5. CMCL 122 INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION (S+H)(3 CR)
6. HPER-E 113 – billiards (1 cr)
7. CMCL-C 223 Business and Professional Communication (S+H) (3cr)

SECOND SEMESTER – 15 or 17
1. BUS-K 201 The Computer in Business (3cr)
2. *BUS-G 202 Business and Economic Strategy in the Public Arena (2 cr.)
3. ECON-E 201 Microeconomics (3 cr)
4. BUSX-100 Business Administration (3 credits)
5. *CMCL-C 323 SPEECH COMPOSITION (3cr)
6. HPER-E 111 Basketball (1 cr)

M-118 will be moved to second semester in a swap with Busx-100.

If I move Eng-170 to second semester (to get the teacher i want)
then what class should I swap it with from the current second semester
selection? I can't do it with the CMCL class because it's maxed out, and
the only econ teachers left are staff. I'm trying to balance difficulty of
schedule as much as possible, and it's flustering me! Oh my!

If your prof is gone already for the W171 section you want to take, he or she will probably be gone when you register for Spring 09. You might just bite the bullet and take a W131 class this semester that meets at a convenient time, which should not be hard to accomplish if you register next week.

Registration order is determined by the number of college credits you have. You will pretty much be in the last group to register (students with no college credits yet) for Spring 09, so getting the profs you want then will probably still be tough, as others that go before you will probably want the same profs you want.

M118 Finite Math (N+M) (3 cr) is an N&M class, but it won't help you fulfill the six hours needed for Kelley in satisfying the N&M part of the distribution option, as I-Core pre-reqs can't be used to satisfy the distribution option. You should take M118 Fall 2008 (the good profs will go fast in Spr08, too), but you might also take CSCI A110 in Fall 2008, as this class would be easy to get into, qualifies as an N&M class, and covers a lot of the same topics as K201 (Microsoft Excel, Access, html, etc.)-- thus making K201 a little less difficult. You can't take CSCI A110 and K201 the same semester, so take A110 fall semester and you will have a strong foundation for skills taught in K201. The grading is pretty good for students who go to all the lectures and labs and keep up with the assignments. CSCI A110 Bloomington Campus Grade Distribution Report

You can't take G202 in Spring 09 because that class requires sophomore standing.

These classes would probably be workable for you as good as most in Fall 2008 in terms of GPA, Kelley requirements, and getting a convenient time schedule.

you learn the intracacies of how to shoot the ball propely, all the rules to the game, and you practice breaking it off, and you practice 1 on 1 with a classmate for the last 15 minutes each class.. you also get quizzed/tested based on attednance, and not by performance/skill but by your participation, knowledge of the rules, and coming prepared to class (which means just bringing your notebook,chalk,etc..)

just to let you know bus x-104 business presentations is just the kelley version of cmcl 122. they both transfer into your first level communications credit and you will be doing pretty much the same things in both classes. i do not know what advisor signed you up for both of them but you only need one. i would suggest x104 b/c it is a kelley class taught by kelley profs.

also i am pretty sure that your computer science class is just like bus k201 for comp sci majors. i know kelley wont take that as a dist so you might want to look into changing that too.

also- any cmcl class kelley does not take as a sub (except for 122) so any advanced speech class is not going to fill any req. I would suggest taking A201 the semester after you take A100 to get it out of the way. also if you are looking for the next level bus. communications class- it is X204 which is business communications. i would wait to take it as a soph though b/c rarely do frosh take this class.

also bus x-100 is unnecessary and i would take bus. calc Math M-119 in your second semester
