F's on midterms?

i'm a sophomore currently and i just received two f's for my bio h and alg2/trig h midterms.

i'm like sososo discouraged right now. i'm usually a student who gets no lower than b's on major exams.

i'm not really talking about ivies here, but would colleges like rutgers, nyu, uMich still accept me with these grades showing up on my transcript?

if it helps i have a's on the classes... just horribly bombed the exams.

If your midterms are factored into your final grade…you won’t be having As in that class for much longer…

There are a couple “ifs” in the situation:
-If your midterm grades are shown on your transcript…that could be a problem.
-If your midterm grades are factored into your semester/final grade…that could be a problem

yeah i’m aware haha :c hopefully the a’s from the mp keep me at a high b

it’s factored into the final grade…

but wont they overlook it a little if im only in my soph year? i honestly don’t plan on getting another failing grade and i will put the effort to assure that. so if i get a’s and b’s in junior + senior years would there still be a chance?

I doubt that midterms will show up on a transcript, but they’ll definitely put a dent in your overall grade. On the other hand, I’ve failed a midterm and still passed the class with a B. Just make sure you get the help you need and keep marks up in the class.

@PieceofToast yeah :slight_smile: i’m almost certain of getting a B/B+

@halcyonheather I see what you mean. i’ll just have to try harder from now on.

Thanks for the replies!

Yeah like the others have said colleges won’t know you failed, they will just see that lower letter grade for the semester… Study more next time and make sure you keep your grades as high as possible so that if you do fail again it won’t be so damaging to your overall grade.
