FSU admissions has updated its page with this info. Not sure its been posted on CC so far.

where on the fsu website is this info?

fsu admissions | requirements | u.s. freshman

Here it is on the admissions site.

Wow!! It was pure luck that got me accepted for the Nov. 28th round. First of all my academic gpa is a 3.5 and my ACT score was only a 24....I was clearly in the bottom 25th percentile of applicants. And I'm out-of-state, so I should have been rejected for sure.

I wonder if they really are tougher on out of state applicants considering the increased tuition revenue they generate without having to dip into the Bright Futures Scholarship money. Still, I think it was a good thing you applied early, because I think the second and third rounds will be much more competitive this year.

Did you make your final decision as to where you will be attending?

cybermom, it is my understanding that, despite the fact that OOS pays more tuition, the state still subsidizes the tuition. OOS tuition does not cover the actual cost of educating an undergrad, so for every OOS paying higher tuitiion, there is still the state/taxpayers having to pay the difference between tuition and the actual cost. For that reason, OOS students are held to a higher standard.

SUNNYFLORIDA -- thank you for the explanation, I always wondered about that.

cybermom,

I have not decided where I plan on going, but I'm pretty sure it will not be Florida State. It sucks, because I really love FSU, and think I would have an amazing time there...but I feel Indiana University is an even better choice. Their business program is top 10, Bloomington is a nicer college town, I like IU's campus better, and there is a much larger OOS population at Indiana.

I'm also considering San Diego State because I would graduate debt free.

But yeah, I would be going to FSU next year, had I not decided to apply to Indiana.

Well best wishes to you! Sounds like you have some excellent options for pursuing your business degree.

My son is a junior in the accounting program at FSU and he has been very pleased with the courses, internship opportunities and accounting organizations he has participated in so far. I hope you will enjoy your choice as much.

If the numbers in that article are correct, FSU had about a 35% acceptance rate this cycle.

Now that you are accepted, you can do the following:

Pay your admissions deposit at fsu admissions | admission deposit
(must be done to confirm spot in freshmen class)

Register for Orientation at fsu.edu | orientation
(summer orientation dates are first come/first reserve)

Sign up for on-campus housing at Florida State University Housing
(space/assignments are first come by priority number)

Go to fsu.edu | newnole and read the pre-orientation section to learn about completing your health/immunization information & online insurance waiver which need to be done before orientation

Sign up to possibly attend a preview at fsu admissions | preview | accepted student preview

^^^Thanks. I do think that the same post on 10 different threads will get the message across :D.

hahaha, I agree. I think the 25 posts he has is all from this info, lol. Good information though.

Stats for the 2nd FSU admissions cycle received from the Office of Admissions on 2/19/08:

The middle 50% of students who are being offered admission tomorrow have a grade point average of 3.8-4.3, SAT scores of 1220-1350, and ACT scores of 26-30.

^ Yep. FSU has pushed the stats up.
