When I visited FSU last summer, I knew it was gonna be my school, and when I heard about the FYA/in state tuition deal... :)
However, there's a few details I want to work out before I get too attached to FSU. I'm planning on being a Film Production major, and there's a pretty rigid schedule for the classes after freshman year. Also, I was wondering if you needed a full year, or just a semester to get in state tuition. Money is kinda an issue, and the lower tuition would be nice.

Thanks :)

The benefit of in-state tuition to out-of-state students only applies to first year abroad participants, not single semester ones.

thanks-i assumed that after reading more of the older posts

I think that if you are coming in with AP credits, it doesn’t need to be a full year with a summer (to get in state tuition for the next three years), that it just needs to be fall and spring, but I am not 100% sure. Does anyone know?

Students who are admitted with at least 9 hours of accelerated credit ( AP, IB, dual enrollment) are exempt from the summer residency requirement. I do not know how that applies to FYA though.

FSU First Year Abroad is fall, spring and summer, but you can change locations for summer. To get the instate tuition after the first year, you have to do 12 mos, but then you have met your summer requirements as well. If you have met your summer requirements, you still have to do 12 mos abroad to get instate tuition for the next 3 years.

Thanks
I’m guessing most film school students don’t go abroad for the tuition due to the lack of information, so I’ll check with the actual school before I apply
