A little confused. Summer will not be happening. Anybody know if there’s an appeal process to change that over to fall? I don’t understand how they can claim there isn’t enough room in the fall semester in the same breath they used to promise me a place in the fall if I do summer.

OKAY so I didn’t even meet the min. SAT requirements (I had around a 1700 excellent writing, decent reading, pathetic math) I had some decent EC’s I was a hard core dancer but I had only two AP’s and only a few honors and a pretty weak GPA that got lower every year also I’m out of state which lowered my chances even more
SO since I figured I didn’t have much of a shot anyway I sent in some writing samples (2 humorous and 2 serious) since I applied for creative writing and I sent them a link to my twitter and told them to consider it since it’s full of comedic gold
And yes I got accepted (:

ABOUT APPLICANTS BEING DEFERRED
Chances are if you have above FSU average grades and test scores and you got deferred, the most probable reason is because you didn’t complete the essay AND resume. The admissions officer who came to my school told me that they value them very highly and (this is a direct quote), “the Seminoles we want will go above and beyond what is required.” In addition, even if you did the essay and resume, if you did a sloppy job and just threw something together that probably is going to negatively impact your application. They want well-rounded students who have the academic merits and have the common sense within them to construct decent resumes and essays.
Another thing I’d like to note, I’ve read through some of the posts in this forum and noticed some concerning details. A lot of the kids who got deferred or rejected seem to lack the necessary course rigor to get into FSU. So what you can get a 3.9 with only ONE honors class and maybe 2 AP classes your entire high school career? FSU isn’t how it used to be where you can just have a 3.5 and take a couple honors classes and expect to be admitted. They want competitive students who have jobs, participate in leadership positions in clubs, maybe play sports, can juggle and successfully get A’s and B’s in MULTIPLE AP/Honors/AICE/DE/IB classes!!!
Last thing, concerning GPA’s, I see so many kids post stuff like a 3.1 UW GPA and like a massively inflated weighted GPA of 4.7 or some shat like that. If your UW GPA is less than a 3.5 your true weighted FSU GPA is definitely not higher than a 4.0. Stop with these nonsense, inflated GPA’s and calculate ALL your classes using the .5 honors and 1 point AP/DE/IB/AICE rule.
If your unweighted GPA is anything with a 2 in front of it, apply to FGCU and save your money from applying to FSU. If you have less than a 3.5 UW just know you’re in risky territory, probably the lower half of applicants, so make sure you have your ESSAY and RESUME turned in to help compensate and a DECENT SAT/ACT score wouldn’t hurt, probably like a 1800+/27+
^^I was actually thankful to FSU for forcing my son to put together a resume. It turned out nice.
Has anyone received an official admission letter or packet from FSU in the mail? It’s been over a week since the online status results were available and nothing has come in the mail yet…
My daughter is working on the honors app now.
Received my acceptance letter in the mail today!
the packets should be getting to all those accepted sometime in the next week. They just finished putting them all through the mail on thursday i think
