@nervousbean - If you were offered summer, then you would first need to accept (non-binding) offer by March 5th. AFTER accepting the offer, then you would see housing, financial aid and orientation information. That is what our understanding is from the initial letter and then the link to the Summer Offer Reply Form
Are any OOS students with no waiver or half-waiver considering FYA?
Thank you! I can’t seem to find the link to accept that non-binding offer though. Does anyone know where on the website it’d be? It says “on the Application Status Page” but I’ve looked everywhere.
@nervousbean - It showed up several hours later on the application status page under FORMS. It is in RED and states “Required - Summer Offer Reply Form”
Nothing is ever binding. If in doubt, accept and decide later.
I didn’t even get a status update
My son has been accepted, but no indication of a scholarship. Should have gotten at least a 1/2 OOS tuition waiver with a 3.5 and 31, as I understood. I don’t think we filled out a Residency Declaration, but I understood that was only if he was a Florida resident and wanted in-state tuition. Is that correct?
I take that back - I see now at the bottom of the acceptance letter that it says “Residency Status: Non-Florida Resident (USA) for tuition purposes.” So I still don’t understand about the OOS waiver. Is it possible they haven’t posted it yet? Anyone else comparable to a 3.5 and 31 that did or did not get an OOS waiver? I’ll call tomorrow and see if I can get an answer and post it. Thanks!
@bruggles my DD was accepted with a 33 ACT & 3.94 gpa & no OOS waiver
Decision: Accepted
Term: Fall 2018
Gender: Male
In-State: Yes
UW GPA: 3.95 (at time of applying, has since risen)
FSU GPA: 4.41
Top 11% of class
Course rigor: Took 8 APs, 12 DE, 7 or so honors, and a few regular (though I stopped taking regular classes sophomore year). Had 4 years of foreign language and took biology and chemistry 2 times each at the high school and AP levels (I’ve never taken physics).
AP scores: Biology (5), Psychology (5), English Language (4)
SAT: 1300 (720 CR/580 M)
Major: Spanish
Extracurriculars: A student government organization (senior year only) and member of 3 different honors societies. Between ten and twenty documented community service hours at the time of application.
Comments: My extracurriculars were nothing to write home about. I think my essay (which was very candid) and my course rigor were what got me in.
atlmom2022, there might be a mistake. I’m pretty sure with your daughter’s acceptance with her stats should get her at least the 50% waiver, if not the full waiver. We are in SC and my daughter received the 50% waiver with a 29 ACT. I’d definitely call tomorrow. Maybe the link just didn’t get attached to the bottom of your letter.
@ny1517 - I can’t believe your DD wouldn’t get at least a full OOS waiver. I was told when we visited that either a 29 or 30 got the full waiver last year. I would definitely call tomorrow, as I will. Does anyone know if official ACT scores are required? I don’t see anything about that on the FSU website, or on the checklist on the portal. His are on his transcript, and he also self-reported them.

I just spoke to admissions officer…I was told to get full OOS waiver this year applicants needed a 4.0 core gap and a 30 ACT…a 3.9 or lower takes them out of consideration despite ACT if it is higher…but they will recalculate with Sr year first semester grades if they were uploaded in the SSAR…
Wow - a 4.0? Is that weighted or UW? Wasn’t it 3.5 last year? My son’s was 3.5 UW, 3.78 weighted. Did the admissions officer say anything about the requirements for the half OOS waiver?
So I am still not seeing financial aid info. Will this come in the acceptance packet in the mail? That’s how it read, so I shouldn’t be clicking all over the place for it? The fsu portal isn’t offering a financial aid button for him.
@bruggles I will call tomorrow and post the response, doesn’t make sense…
Accepted with University Freshman scholarship!
I have had no status update button at all since 4:00. At around 7:00, I was finally able to get through to the phone lines, where I was on and off hold for over half an hour. I was then told that the admissions office does not know why I do not have access to a status update, and they said that they do not see a decision for me at all. They took down my information and said they would look into my case and contact me within the next week. I asked if this had happened to anyone else and the woman told me I was only the second person she knew of that experienced this issue. Just my luck.
For reference, I have a 1430 SAT/32 ACT with a 3.86/5.12 GPA. FSU should be an easy safety acceptance, it’s just extremely frustrating having to deal with this issue.
My son has a 1230 with an UW3.5 and W5.5 GPA and got in for Summer.
