FSU climbs to #49 public

<p>Moving in the right direction, FSU elevated from #56 to #49 national public university in the latest US News ranking. </p>

<p>Florida State University has improved its overall national ranking with U.S. News & World Report by 10 spots, moving to 102.</p>

<p>In the public-school rankings, FSU cracked the top 50 by placing at 49.</p>

<p>Provost Larry Abele credited the higher ranking to the university improving its graduation and retention rates, despite state budget cuts.</p>

<p>"In six years we've improved in everything except resources," Abele said. "It's going to be hard for any school in Florida to move up when the ratings are so heavily skewed toward resources."</p>
